The Secret Of The Scars

When my siblings and I were younger, my parents had a golden rule for Sundays, which was no playing outdoors, meaning that 'Sunday was a day of Rest'.  However, I could only be still for a short period of time, and no more.  So, many Sundays when my parents were resting, I would silently creep outside to play, often encouraging my siblings to join me in a game of hide and seek, volleyball, cricket or simply sliding down the grassy slopes near our home.

It was one such day of 'grassy slope sliding', chasing a ball down the slope, that I was left with a scar on my body. To this day, whenever I look at the scar, I am reminded of the painful ordeal that I went through, not only because of the pain from the cut, but also the whole process in the ER of cleaning out the grass and dirt from the wound, and can I ever forget the agony of the stitches?!!!

Some scars are visible (as mine is), but there are also invisible scars, and I do have many of these as well.  Many of us are scarred by painful events which took place in our lives, be it emotional or even spiritual.  The thing is, God allowed them to bring glory to His name.  At any time during the course of that pain, hurt, struggle, wound, God could have stopped it.

However, even as God would not remove the torn in the Apostle Paul's life, but worked it all out, so that He God would ultimately be glorified, our scars, especially those visible to the world (pains, hurts, wounds, disappointments, embarassment, betrayals, etc.) should be looked at in the light of love towards God, and glorify Him despite the scars.

Why?  Because, had it not been for HIS grace and mercy, we would never have made it thus far.

Jesus protrayed this in His act of obedient love to the Father, and to mankind.  His scars are visible to the world and beyond.  When the scars on His body are seen, the scars in His hands; His side; His feet, love is portrayed and the Father is glorified.  This is how we should view our scars, as a sign of our enduring love for God - 'We are still standing'.

If I were to show you my physical scar, you would see that the wound is healed. Nonetheless, the story behind the scar remains as a testimony, to what I once endured.  Let us not dwell on the past pains of those scars.   Instead, let us glorify God through our testimonies of how He kept us, preserved us, provided for us and protected us.

Donot be ashamed of your scars, but rather ask God to use the story behind those scars to encourage others.

I Am Thine Lord

"Are you so greatly scarred emotionally or spiritually, that you have given up on God and life?  Just give them all, give them all to Jesus; every wound, hurt, all the scars that are holding you back from becoming the man or woman of God, that He designed you to become - even before the foundation of the world.  Jesus is only a prayer away."

Rejection of your action is not a rejection of you.  It's actually love - Bishop Kevin Foreman

INSPIRATIONAL

... I also understood the importance of thanking God for the things we receive. Gratitude is an eternal virtue.  In humility we must ask, and in gratitude we should receive. The more we thank God for the blessings we receive, the more  we open the way for further blessings.  His desire to bless us is full to overflowing.  If we will open our hearts and minds to receive His blessings, we too will be filled to overflowing.  We will know that He lives.  We may become like the angels themselves, helping others who are in need.  In prayer and service, our lights will always shine.  Service is the oil to our lamps generated by compassion and love.

The aetheists claim that the concept of God is incoherent, often using the paradox of the stone:  Can God create a stone so heavy that He cannot lift it.  If He can't, then there is something that He cannot do (create the stone); if He can, then there is something that He cannot do (lift the stone).  Strangely, everyone looks at the concept of the stone, but I look at the fact that God can do whatever He wants to do, and make happen whatever He so desires. It's a win win situation for Almighty God.
